Mural

Guide

In the context of synthesis, a Mural is a visual representation of a theme, complex idea, or coherent set of ideas.  Murals evoke emotion through their thought provoking symbolism, and generally contain real life characters or situations.

Rationale:  Research demonstrates that synthesizing information, or taking information and creating new and independent work, increases understanding and retention.

Instructions:  Select a theme, complex idea, or coherent set of ideas.  Identify images, events, and people relevant to the idea.  Plan the mural with a brief sketch, label the images with their relevant titles.  Get a large piece of art paper and sketch the mural.  If willing, color or paint the mural.
