Word Hunt
Guide
Word
Hunt is a method of obtaining new, useful vocabulary words for the expansion
of your vocabulary by choosing them from words that you encounter.
Rationale: Too
often vocabulary words are irrelevant and assigned. Vocabulary Mining allows you to find and
identify words that you do not know but believe you should know, thus
increasing your motivation to learn them and the likelihood that you will
encounter them in the future.
Instructions: Draw a vertical line down your
paper dividing it into two parts, the left side taking up ¼ of the page and the
right side taking up ¾ of the page. Mine
your vocabulary words from your textbook, conversations, or any other source
for words. On the left, write vocabulary
words. The wider right side is used to write
the definitions. Use a line placed
horizontally to separate words. Draw a
score tab for future review.
