Analysis of Visuals
Guide
An Analysis
of Visuals is a way to record your observations when flipping through the
pages, glancing at pictures and understanding their purpose. The Analysis
of Visuals is performed similarly to the Picture Perusal, however the Analysis
of Visuals is expected to be an in depth contextualization of each visual
and needs more support with information and terms.
Rationale: Many
learners are visual. Pictures have the
ability to provoke feeling and interest more so than text, especially when
students know little about the subject.
Instructions: Draw a
vertical line an inch or so to the right of the left margin. Identify the type and objects of the pictures
featured in the textbook on the left hand side.
On the right, explain the reason or motive behind the picture’s
presence.
